Everyone finds online gaming confusing at first. The first time I played Quake
online was on a server in the states. That was when I found out about latency,
or lag as most people call it. The time it took for my computer to tell the
server what I was doing, and for the server to reply and tell my computer what
everyone else was doing was 700 milliseconds. So this meant I was almost 1 second
behind what was happening. It basically meant I was dead way before I knew I
was being attacked. End result was no fun for me. If you have no idea what lag
is, read the miscellaneous info section. Probably the best advice I can give
is READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!. I'm one of those people who will spend half
a day trying to work out how to do something before grabbing the manual. This
is not the way to do things, most of what you need to know is easy to learn,
but if you try to work it out yourself, it can take a while. Below are different
sections about different aspects of online gaming that we here at iNET support.
I will build on it as time goes by, but at the moment there will be enough information
to get you onto the local servers and into some fun.
